Under 24 hours in the wake of "designating" previous Mayor Karachi Wasim Mustafa Kamal as "Project Director Garbage on voluntary basis” to clean the city, Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Tuesday suspended the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief from the position.
"I had appointed him thinking that he sincerely wanted to solve the city's problems. However, after the press conference he held last night, it is clear that Kamal only wants to play politics," Akhtar said during a media talk.
"I am hereby suspending Kamal from the position I had given him yesterday."
Recently morning, proceeding with a progressing war of words in regards to the working of the city division of Karachi with the civic chairman, Kamal held a public interview where he had said that he was happy to work to arrange off the city's trash and clear the city inside a quarter of a year.
Reacting to the case, Akhtar had issued a request toward the evening and named Kamal the Project Director Garbage "on a voluntary basis".
Later at night, Kamal declared that he had acknowledged the Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar offer and said he would work nonstop and report to the Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar even after 12 PM since "he is my boss now".
Be that as it may, at the same time, the PSP chief said by issuing this request, the civic chairman — who has a place with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) — had surrendered his disappointment and the MQM ought to request that he leave as there was no avocation left for him to proceed in office.
While tending to the press today, Akhtar stated: "He (Kamal) had said in his press conference that he wanted to work for Karachi and take charge of the municipal tasks that the mayor currently has.
"In good faith, I responded positively to his request, setting aside all the differences we had had in the past. Everything that he has said about me and to me on a personal and professional level is on record; in spite of all of that, I said that I will let this man take the position, for the sake of the people of Karachi.
"But my sincerity was misused," Akhtar says
"It was given the shade of governmental issues. You (Kamal) utilized my transition to play legislative issues; you took out a rally, assembled your gathering laborers, called the media and began expressing those equivalent abhorrent words that you had said about me previously. This demonstrates you are not genuine, it implies that all you needed to do was play legislative issues.
"What ought to have happened was that you ought to have gone to the metropolitan works division head office, and given a formal joining there. You ought to have shared your 90-day plan and the equation you have for clearing Karachi in 90 days with us so we as a whole could have continued on the issue with reality.
"Rather, you held a question and answer session and attempted to act like you had been given every single mayoral power; you began acting like regions had gone under you. That isn't the situation, you had been made the venture executive of trash and you needed to work under the civic chairman office to tidy this city up," the Mayor Karachi stated, reacting to cases made in Kamal's public interview yesterday where he had said that he would be in charge of city administrations of the 130 association advisory groups and four area city enterprises being constrained by the MQM-P.
"You are not an individual from the National Accountability Bureau that you can bring the monetary records and documents of the division, you don't have that specialist.
"In light of the majority of this, today I have settled on the choice of suspending Kamal from the position he was given yesterday," the Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar finished up.
