Cain Velasquez Talks WWE Debut, Facing Off Against Brock Lesnar, What Roman Reigns Said To Him

Cain Velasquez made his WWE debut on the previous evening's SmackDown, going up against the new WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. The two are allegedly set to go head to head at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on October 31.

After the show, Velasquez talked with Marc Raimondi of ESPN about fighting with Lesnar in a WWE ring and how it contrasted with when they battled in UFC in 2010 when Velasquez took the UFC Heavyweight Championship from Lesnar.

"It was an alternate world, however it felt the equivalent, a similar force that was there from the first occasion when we battled," Velasquez said. "Similar sentiments returned. It's an alternate world, truly, yet those equivalent emotions are there when he's gazing at me and I'm gazing at him, similar to, 'It's a great opportunity to go.' ... The group response was magnificent, the vitality, it's something that I gotta take in a greater amount of and I will once I show signs of improvement at this. I could feel the vitality and individuals simply cherishing it."

In spite of the fact that he did some preparation at the WWE Performance Center a year ago, the arrangement for WWE to acquire Cain occurred without prior warning.

"Definitely, we just worked it out and do a few things to a great extent," Velasquez reacted. "I believe it's an incredible story, an extraordinary competition among me and Brock. There's a solid bind from UFC to WWE now, it's a similar sort of inclination when I battled him in Anaheim [at UFC 121]."
Velasquez noted it was "dreamlike" to meet Vince McMahon and Triple H. Finally night's show Cain reviewed what Roman Reigns let him know, "It's amazing to see you here and ideally we see a greater amount of you here."

Fans may have seen Cain wearing a knee support on SmackDown and that is because of some torn tendons in his knee. He was inquired as to whether that was something that would require medical procedure before he got into a WWE ring, yet he didn't think so.
"No, it's great," Velasquez reacted. "It's showing signs of improvement, so simply leave it the manner in which it is. Work on showing signs of improvement in the ring and getting similar out there as much as I can."
